House Finch
Lucy

Lucy is a quiet spark-small, bright, and stubbornly hopeful. She favors the places where crumbs collect and conversations happen: beneath the feeder, beside the shrub, near the edge of whatever humans call “safe.”
In Emberwood lore she is called the Hearth-Singer, not because her voice is loud, but because it is continuous. When the yard is empty and the cold tries to convince the world to stop, Lucy’s presence insists otherwise.
She watches the others with a gentle, appraising patience-as if taking attendance, as if memorizing faces. Some say she remembers every finch she has ever met, and that her soft calls are greetings, not noise.
If you catch her in a sunbeam, still for one breath, you’ll understand the legend: Lucy collects warmth the way others collect seeds, and shares it just by being near.
