Hearthroot Moot
If the Canopy Court rules the realm’s borders, the Hearthroot Moot rules the realm’s continuance.
It gathers wherever life is most stubborn: under porches, in hedge-tangles, beside woodpiles, near the feeder where arguments begin and treaties are tested every hour. The Moot does not announce itself. It simply happens-when the small folk decide what must be done and then do it anyway.
Matters of the Moot are plain, but never simple:
- which corners are safe enough to nest
- who warns first, who shares last, who keeps watch when others sleep
- how to survive winter without becoming cruel
- how to keep Emberwood’s daily rhythm from breaking

Trials Of The Moot
The Moot does not mark its history in grand battles or declarations. It marks what was endured and who showed up.
- Frostfall Skirmish - When an unseasonable chill drove the small folk from their nests, it was the Moot that held the line. Pippin led the displaced to hidden caches and sheltered nooks, earning his title and proving that the Moot’s strength lies not in size but in preparedness. The Council of Black Sentinels took note; Corvath Darkwing himself acknowledged the Moot’s response with a rare nod from the high branch.
