Council Of Black Sentinels
The Black Sentinels are the ancient, shadow-bound crows of Emberwood. They do not flit about chasing gossip or playing in sunlight. Instead, they hold vigil over the secrets, the storms, and the truths the forest would prefer remain buried.
Corvath Darkwing - The Silent Judge
Corvath is the authority of the council, presiding over disputes and enforcing ancient oaths. Silent and imposing, he sees through the bravado of younger birds and commands respect without a single caw. His judgment is swift, fair, and remembered for generations.
Gravelok Storm-Witness - The Tempest Herald
Gravelok arrives when the world turns gray and the rain falls hard. He bears the rare title of Storm-Witness, for he listens to the tempests and deciphers their hidden messages. He remembers disasters and warns of looming dangers. Young birds tremble in awe when he perches dripping atop Emberwood, his presence signaling that something momentous stirs in the forest.
Korrath Shadebeak - The Shadow-Warden
Korrath moves like twilight itself. Subtle and calculating, he collects whispers, notices the unnoticed, and remembers what others forget. As the Shadow-Warden, he ensures that every secret has a guardian, every intrusion is noted, and every misstep is observed. His power lies in quiet precision-when Korrath acts, it is unavoidable and remembered.
Ashbark Crowe - The Lookout Of The Line
Every council needs a watcher who does not blink. Ashbark is that watcher. He takes the high perch while the others gather, keeping the realm’s edges in view and the flock’s attention pointed outward. His warnings are brief, unmistakable, and always early.
Cinderveil Stonemind - Keeper Of The Ash Record
The Black Sentinels do not recruit. Cinderveil arrived the way ash falls — gradually, without announcement, already settled. Where Corvath weighs judgment and Gravelok reads storms, Cinderveil holds the record: not written anywhere, not spoken aloud, simply held in that calm flint-grey gaze like coals after fire. Every ruling, every storm-warning, every intrusion noted — Cinderveil holds these not as history, but as standing law. The Council does not forget because Cinderveil does not allow forgetting. Corvath once cited an old ruling incorrectly. Cinderveil corrected him. Quietly. Completely. Without moving.
